DOMINIQUE PECCATTE(1810-1874)
Weight: 60 grams
We are delighted to offer this stunning example of violin bow by Dominique Peccatte in near mint condition, with original frog and button, certified by J.F. Raffin.
Dominique Peccatte blended the designs of Persoit and Tourte and created bows prized for their strong playing qualities. Today, Dominique Peccatte's bows are highly regarded and are sought after among musicians and collectors. Peccatte and Tourte are often considered the two most influential makers in the history of bow making.
This particular example is silver-mounted and made of the highest quality pernambuco with beautiful rising flames. The bow is well-balanced and plays exceptionally well. It draws a clear, elegant, and projecting sound. The more one explores the possibilities, the more one discovers its rich palette of colour, strength, and refinement. It would make a great musical partner or a jewel in any collection.
This bow was formerly in the prestigious collection of William Moennig & Son, one of the oldest and most distinguished dealers and appraisers of rare violins, violas, cellos and bows.
Famous players who use/used Dominique Peccatte bows include Charles de Beriot, Jean Alard, Toscha Seidel, Micha Elman, Joseph, Szigeti, Jascha Heifetz, Leonid Kogan, Zino Francescatti, Henryk Szeryng, Yehudi Menuhin, Arthur Grumiaux, Christian Ferras, Pinchas Zukerman, Midori, James Ehnes, to name just a few.
